Concussion Symptoms in Uninjured Athletes

This is a very interesting article published by Medical News Today concerning concussion-like symptoms in uninjured athletes. Grant Iverson, Ph.D conducted a study at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA where he examined data from 30,000 uninjured adolescent patients who reported concussion-like symptoms in the absence of a recent concussion. According to the article on Medical News Today pre-exisiting psychiatric and developmental issues played a significant role in the level of reporting of symptoms. Additionally, girls were more likely than boys to report concussion-like symptoms without a recent concussion. This article is important for clinicians and those who have suffered a previous concussion. It is often easy to attribute concussion-like symptoms to post-concussion disorder rather than looking for another explanation.
